For over 30 years Jim and Alice have been involved in the healthcare industry. Jim was Director of the Augusta VA Medical Center where he led the medical center for five years. The Augusta(Charlie Norwood) VA Medical Center won two national awards under Jim’s Leadership. One was The Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award with the Augusta VA Medical Center being the only organization in the Department of Veterans Affairs receiving the highest level award, the Trophy Award. The Augusta(Charlie Norwood) VA Medical Center also received the Olin E. Teague Award recognizing the Medical Center’s work with the rehabilitation and improvement in the quality of life for war-injured veterans. The Augusta VA was the first to start an active duty rehab unit dedicated solely to the specialized rehabilitation needs of injured active duty soldiers. Jim was the recipient of a 2006 Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Senior Professionals. Prior to leading the Charlie Norwood VAMC in Augusta, Jim was Director of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA. Jim was Chief Financial Officer at several VA Medical Centers and a VISN CFO responsible for managing budgets exceeding one billion dollars prior to becoming a Medical Center Director.
Jim received his Bachelors degree from West Virginia State College and Masters Degree in Business from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He is a member of the Air Force Association, Reserve Officers Association, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Spring Hills Masonic Lodge. Jim is a native West Virginian where he graduated from Scott High School in Madison, WV.
Alice was an Educator for the VA Atlanta Network working with staff to develop educational programs for healthcare providers. She worked with key staff at eight medical centers to provide educational opportunities for their staff as well as coordinated efforts with national educational programs to improve education for over 10,000 employees. Alice also managed programs within the education arena making sure that all activities were properly coordinated and that appropriate outcomes would result. Alice is also a West Virginia native graduating from Sherman High School in Seth, WV.
