We never found a camera that suited us for the 2010/2011 season so we are using the Canon that we used in 2009. It's just harder to start but we believe we now have a system that will work. The system is take the gloves off and hit the start button three cars from start.
And, if you think the racing suits are hot, yes they are. We're discussed how to minimize the heat but we never figured out a solution. Alice initially decided to wear a head sock but when Jim said they weren't required for our speed, she decided not to wear hers as well. Now, she did look cute with blue tape holding her earphones in so her helmet wouldn't pull them out. We should have taken photos of ears with blue masking tape on them. The neck support remains is the biggest pain in the neck literally and we have to wear them as well as arm restraints in Nevada.
We nailed the stop watches with our timing this year and will be working on launching the vehicle more effectively at future events. Alice has had shots in the knee and that will help pain issues considerably. You couldn't get her out of the car since she really loves to race.
We had the opportunity recently to attend advanced driving school at Spring Mountain Motorsports http://www.springmountainmotorsports.com/. The quality of instruction was outstanding and we would recommend this school to anyone who wants to improve their driving skills. It's not for the faint of heart but if you really want to improve, this is the place. Rick who is the instructor leader is absolutely outstanding in teaching knowledge, skills and abilities of road racing. The floating heel/toe is a technique we both have to continue to work on as well as blipping. You have to attend to course to find out what that means.
We are starting to get involved in club racing through NASA (National Auto Sport Association) http://www.nasaproracing.com/ . We believe additional experience will significantly improve our driving abilities.
