How did we come up with the name Pantherbranch?  Alice and Jim both grew up in Boone County, West Virginia.  Alice was born at home and lived up a "hollow" in Rumble, WV.  This hollow was known for occasional sightings of panthers; therefore, the hollow is known as "Panther Branch" hollow.  Now you know the rest of the story!  Panther Branch is now included in the official Postal Service address for those who live there.  Jim was born in Charleston, West Virginia and grew up in Hewett's Creek, WV, approximately twelve miles from Madison, WV.
